CATAWBA COUNTY, N.C. ( QUEEN CITY NEWS ) — Officials identified the suspect who was shot and killed after he attempted to strike officers with his vehicle in Catawba County, deputies say.

The incident occurred in a parking lot at Elite Comfort Solutions, located at 1115 Farrington St. SW in Conover.

Around 6 p.m., members of Catawba County’s Special Tactics and Response Team (STAR) attempted to apprehend Pierre Demond Ramseur, 33, of Hickory, who was wanted on several felony and misdemeanor charges.

During that attempt, Ramseur refused to comply with the officer’s orders and then struck several law enforcement vehicles and a private vehicle in an attempt to flee.

Ramseur was shot and killed by STAR members as he approached other members of law enforcement with his vehicle.

Ramseur was wanted for second-degree kidnapping, common law robbery, felony larceny, misdemeanor larceny, communicating threats, injury to personal property and had an outstanding domestic violence protective order, which deputies attempted to serve.

Ramseur was also out on bond after being charged with murder in an unrelated incident.

The State Bureau of Investigation is investigating the incident.

This was the third shooting involving a Catawba Sheriff’s Office deputy since Memorial Day. On May 28, deputies killed a suspect who reportedly shot at a woman in a parking lot.
