WWE Controversy: Rikishi accuses promotion of ‘trying to break up marriage’ of Jey Uso via Mami date

Rikishi and the WWE creative team aren’t exactly besties lately, and considering it’s led by Paul “Triple H” Levesque, his angst is more so aimed directly at the top of the pyramid when it comes to one of his twin sons, Jey Uso.

The Hall of Famer has taken to podcasts, once again, to continue his campaign for Jey, still upset that the Money in the Bank briefcase went to Drew McIntyre.

Less than one week after airing that out, Rikishi is tripling down, having asked the WWE “where is the title shot?” only a week ago, now wondering if Triple H is trying to break up a happy home.

“SummerSlam, where's [Jey Uso] at?” Rikishi asked on his “Off the Rope” podcast. “I don't know, let's write him in that he likes Mami. Mami? That's the best that those writers got? Let's write this guy into a relationship with Mami?

“What are you trying to do; break his marriage up? Y'all can't put him in a good storyline, so what you gonna do now? God forbid you guys try to tell him, or tell her, 'Tongue kiss each other on RAW.' Sh*t. That better not happen…”

    OK, let’s all just relax.

Rikishi is well-versed in how WWE storylines work, and the Waffle House date offer has not only been well-received by fans, and Jey, but it became a viral sensation for WWE over the course of the last several days as both he and Ripley leaned into it on social media; and this week’s episode of RAW also saw Ripley and Dominik Mysterio effectively work things out via the humiliation of Liv Morgan.

As for tongue kissing on camera goes, while this is no longer the PG-13 era of the WWE, it’s highly unlikely that the promotion would go that far, or they would’ve already had Liv and Dom do it during any one of the many opportunities on broadcast and/or during live house shows.

    But, they didn’t … and they won’t.

Oh, and Ripley just got married in real life, so don’t count on her or her husband signing off on such a thing (licking a face is one thing, tongue kissing is quite another), let alone Jey and his wife being OK with it. The bottom line is it’s all in great fun and storytelling, and nothing more.

Jey Uso landed the win alongside WWE Intercontinental Champion Sami Zayn on RAW against the tag team champs Finn Balor and J.D. McDonough, after Uso was jumped by the Judgment Day due to his wooing of Ripley — a part of the storyline that either brought Ripley closer to Dom and/or drove a wedge between Ripley and Balor.

See? Storytelling, and with a purpose.

For Rikishi, however, it’s more about Jey not having a title yet, though it’s key to note the Hall of Famer had zero issues with the original Bloodline (Roman Reigns and the Usos) retaining belts for a historic period of time, nor with the Solo Sikoa and the new-look Bloodline being so OP (overpowered) and repetitive that they’re driving SmackDown to a decrease in ratings.

Rikishi is instead focused on RAW, where the ratings have never been higher.

    Go figure.

Jey Uso will undoubtedly get another title shot down the road, having already lost in more than one but, for now, he should be prepping for the Civil War to come, and Rikishi knows this almost literally better than anyone.
