It’s the end of an era for Sears enthusiasts as the iconic department store prepares to close its historic Stockton location next month. Once a cornerstone of the community, this closure will leave the retailer with only around 10 stores still operating across the U.S.

For years, the Stockton Sears has been a beloved shopping destination, known for its good prices and reliable appliances. CBS News reported that the store has been a staple in the area for quite some time, and the news of its closure has stirred up a wave of nostalgia.

On Facebook, CBS13 CBS Sacramento shared the announcement, and the comments quickly filled up with sentiments of loss. One devoted Sears fan wrote, "The end of an era," reflecting the deep connection many locals have with the store. Another commented, "Loved shopping Sears when they were in Sacramento. Good prices, great appliances, etc." It’s clear that this store held a special place in many hearts.

As of now, Sears operates just 12 locations in the U.S., including the Stockton store that is set to shut its doors in August. Although a specific closure date hasn't been pinned down yet, a Sears employee told USA Today Gannett affiliate The Record that mid-August is when the store will close for good.

Inside the store, signs are posted everywhere announcing "Everything Must Go!" Shoppers can expect major discounts, with prices slashed anywhere from 25% to 70% off the lowest ticketed price. It’s a last chance for locals to pick up deals before the doors close for the final time.

The "Store Closing" signs are hard to miss, both outside and inside the location, signaling the end of an era for a retailer that once defined American shopping. For many, it’s not just about the discounts but about saying a final goodbye to a cherished part of their community.
