The Irish actor, known for his roles in The Banshees of Inisherin , In Bruges, and The Guard, will join the star-studded cast of Joaquin Phoenix, as the Joker and Lady Gaga, as Harley Quinn, in the chaotic sequel to the 2019 blockbuster.
The trailer is eerily captioned , "When you're smiling, the whole world smiles with you," viewers detect song, dance, and chaos from the trailer of Folie à Deux, a term meaning delusion or mental illness shared by two people in close association.
Director Todd Phillips has confirmed that while the blockbuster is not a full musical, music is an "essential element," and the trailer highlights that, with big, booming, climactic sounds filling the trailer from start to finish.
In the trailer , Arthur Fleck, played by Phoenix, can be seen breaking out into intermittent fits of laughter while handcuffed in the back of a police van. He is wearing a suit - breaking away from his signature painted face.
As he rolls into court, a sinister voice describes the Joker as having transformed from "martyr to monster". In the next clip, Harley Quinn, played by the Just Dance singer , proclaims to have found a kindred spirit in the Joker.
The duo, who appear scintillating together in the clips, promise to be a force to be reckoned with. Gleeson makes his cameo as an Irish prisoner officer, speaking in his native accent to a the Joker in a gloomy prison yard.
Followers couldn't get enough. One wrote: "This will be epic and glorious!" while another exclaimed: "This is cinema ! This is art!"
A third scribed: "Finally here! Who else is going to see Joker 2 the day it comes out?" while a fourth penned: "The cinematography by itself looks wonderful. The color, grading, and lighting is fire."
A fifth gave their opinion: "This will hit hard in the Box Office . You can already feel the chemistry from these two just from the trailers."
A sixth commented : "Cinematography, acting , and atmosphere. This looks WAY crazier than the first movie . This looks like The Dark Knight of our time. Joker in 2019 was an Avatar level box office achievement. Just imagine what will happen to this".
A seventh added: This is the main comic book movie of the decade so far. Joker: Folie à Deux will be released in US theaters on October 4.
