Gunner is a new action movie from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment that sees Hemsworth play a retired veteran who must save his family from an ultra-dangerous crime organization. The film will be released in select theaters and on digital in August.
“War veteran Colonel Lee Gunner takes his two sons on a camping trip with their uncle Jon, to reconnect with them after being at the battle front for so long,” the official synopsis reads. “The trip goes awry when Jon stumbles over a tripwire and sets off an explosion, alerting a gang of violent bikers in the midst of a massive drug operation. Not anticipating Gunner’s elite combat skills, the gang members are taken out one by one. The boys try to go for help, but end up right in the arms of Dobbs, the son of kingpin Kendric Ryker who runs the organization from prison. With no one but himself to turn to, an enraged Gunner wreaks havoc to rescue his two sons, until he gets to the top and confronts Ryker. You don’t cross Gunner.”
Gunner is directed by Dimitri Logothetis, who previously made 2014’s Wings of the Dragon, 2018’s Kickboxer: Retaliation, and 2020’s Jiu Jitsu, among other titles. Logothetis co-wrote the script with Guy Scott Thompson and produced the movie alongside Joel Shapiro.
Hemsworth, who is the brother of Chris and Liam Hemsworth, is known for playing Ashley Stubbs in HBO’s Westworld. He’s also starred in 2023’s Next Goal Wins, 2024’s Land of Bad, and more.
Gunner releases in select Regal Cinema theaters and on digital on August 16, 2024, from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment.
