47 new beverages with and without alcohol vie for best new drink at the Iowa State Fair

The Iowa State Fair not only has 84 new foods to unveil Aug. 8-18, along with three foods vying for fairgoers’ votes for best new food at the fair, but now officials revealed new drinks to try at the fair. And a contest will determine fairgoers' favorites.

The list of 24 new alcohol-free drinks and 23 new cocktails is part of a new game where participants can download the Iowa State Fair app on their smart phones and collect badges. About half of the drinks, with and without alcohol, will be part of the scavenger hunt. Items with an asterisk below are part of the competition.

On Aug. 14, fair officials tally up the votes to announce a winner along with the pick for People’s Choice Best New Food, both released on Aug. 16.
