Kelly Clarkson sang a soulful cover of Romy’s “She’s on My Mind” during the Kellyoke portion of The Kelly Clarkson show on Monday. The singer-songwriter took to the stage alongside My Band Y’all to sing the disco-pop track before a live audience.

Clarkson reached a crescendo as she belted the final chorus of the track, “I’m so tired of fighting, I’m so scared to lose/But I don’t care anymore, think I’m in love with you.”

Earlier this month, Clarkson performed The Last Dinner Party’s “Nothing Matters,” Amy Grant’s “Baby, Baby,” and Tony Bennett’s “(I Left My Heart) In San Francisco” in her Kellyoke series. Back in June 2022, Clarkson released a Kellyoke EP, featuring six of her favorite covers (including Billie Eilish’s “ Happier Than Ever “) performed during the segment.

“Music is in the DNA of everything I do, so when The Kelly Clarkson Show started we knew it was the perfect way to kick off every episode,” Clarkson said in a statement to Billboard . “Over 500 songs later, and we’re still not running out of amazing artists to pay tribute to.”

Romy released her debut solo album Mid Air in September 2023, which features “She’s on My Mind” as the final track. The xx member’s 11-track album also includes the songs “Loveher,” and “Enjoy Your Life” co-produced by her bandmate Jamie xx. Last year, the LP track “Strong,” which she co-produced with Fred Again… and Stuart Price landed her a Grammy nomination for Best Dance/Electronic Recording. Romy shared in a June 2023 Instagram post that the album represents a collection of songs “celebrating love, navigating loss and exploring identity.”

“It’s musically inspired by dance music, it’s a love letter to the queer clubs I first went to when I was growing up and people I met there and the music I heard that has made me feel more alive and less alone,” Romy wrote in the post.
