ST. LOUIS – Missouri Governor Mike Parson released a statement Monday afternoon on President Biden’s decision to discontinue his candidacy. Parson is also retiring at the end of his term and had some nice comments for the outgoing president . The statement differs from what other Republicans stated Sunday about President Biden’s decision.

“First, I believe, President Biden stepping aside is in the best interest of our country. As elected leaders, we must all recognize when it is our time to go home and let the next generations lead. For that, I commend the President for his decision,” states Parson.

Parson became Missouri’s governor following Eric Greitens’ resignation in 2018. After completing that term, he was elected for a full term in 2020. As he cannot run for another term, Missouri will have a new governor in 2025.

Who’s running for Missouri governor in 2024?

He is still endorsing Donald Trump to be the next president of the United States.

“Nevertheless, leadership at the federal level remains in disarray. This dysfunction in D.C. only intensifies the anxieties Americans are feeling about the future of our country, and on the world stage, we’re ridiculed to something of a reality TV drama. This country needs a course correction. We need a steady hand of leadership. We need Donald Trump to be the next President of the United States.”

Parson told FOX 2 earlier this year that he has humble hopes for how he will be remembered as governo r, reminiscing about the view of his southern Missouri farm from his John Deere tractor.

A biography of his journey to the governor’s office was released in February. He hopes the book, “ No Turnin’ Back ,” will inspire others to believe that everything happens for a reason.

“Finally, I do want to offer my well wishes to the President and First Lady. While their politics I disagree passionately and often, their love of country I do not question,” states the governor.
