Team USA Basketball Go 5-0 In Olympic Warmups

The USA Men’s National Basketball Team has defeated Germany in the penultimate game before the Olympics campaign begins. The team is 5-0 in the warmup matches, beating some of the top teams in the world in the process.

In back-to-back games, LeBron has been the man for the U.S. in the fourth quarter. In this one, he dropped a team-high 20 points, including 11 in the final 4 minutes to secure the win. He hit threes, scored in the paint, and threw down some nasty dunks.

Heading into the Olympics, it’s clear that James is still the number one option on this team. We’ll see if that stands when Kevin Durant returns, but having those two at the forefront of your team is absolute hell for any opponent.

Biggest Concerns

In the first game against Canada, Anthony Edwards stated that coach Steve Kerr wanted 8 turnovers or less per game from the team. They have failed to even come close to this number in any of the five games, averaging 14.2 turnovers.

While it hasn't caused a loss yet, Steve Kerr knows they have to be better in that department in the Olympics. Teams like Germany, France, and Canada will punish them heavily in transition if they continue to put up numbers this high.

Should The Team Be Confident?

The short answer is yes. While they weren't exactly convincing in their victories, they did still win every game. The rest of the world is only getting better and better every year, and while the U.S. certainly has the most talented team on paper, they aren't invincible. Teams like Canada, Australia, France, and more are loaded with NBA talent. We've seen in the NBA just because a team has many talented players, doesn't make them the best team, take the 2024 Phoenix Suns for example.

Regardless, this team will continue to gain chemistry, and there's no reason to believe they aren't gold medal favorites based on their play so far. The U.S. has one more game against Germany in London before the Olympic campaign begins against Serbia on the 29th.
