    Randolph County father, son accused of assaulting neighbor who was hospitalized

    RANDOLPH COUNTY, N.C. (WGHP) — A father and his son are being accused of assault, according to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office.

    On Saturday, deputies came to Old Thomasville Road after getting a report of an assault.

    At the scene, the victim provided evidence that they were assaulted by two neighbors for unknown reasons.

    The victim was injured during the alleged assault and taken to a local hospital for further evaluation.

    Investigators tried to contact the suspects at their nearby home but were unable to do so.

    Charges were then sought against 24-year-old Tony Mashburn, Jr. for felony assault by strangulation, misdemeanor assault inflicting serious injury and misdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon.

    Additionally, 56-year-old Tony Mashburn, Sr. is being charged with misdemeanor assault inflicting serious injury.

    The pair were found on Monday and taken into custody. Mashburn, Jr. was issued no bond, and Mashurn Sr. was issued a $3,000 secured bond.

    Both are scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.
