SAN FRANCISCO ( KRON ) — We’re in for another scorcher of a day Tuesday as persistent and ongoing heat that’s baked inland parts of the Bay Area for much of the month returns for another round. Much of the Bay Area is under a heat advisory Tuesday with an excessive heat warning in effect for eastern Contra Costa and Alameda counties.

The National Weather Service is warning of “dangerous heat” on Tuesday lasting through 11 p.m. on Wednesday. Temperatures in the inland valleys are expected in the mid-90s to near 110.

Concord and Livermore, which have seen triple-digit temperatures on-and-off throughout July, are expected to top 100 degrees again Tuesday. In the North Bay, Cloverdale is also expected to hit triple digits. San Jose, Santa Rosa and Napa are all expected to top 90 on Tuesday.

The NWS is warning of “hot conditions that could cause life-threatening impacts or major impacts to commerce or travel.”

“There is a high to very high risk for much of the population due to long duration heat with little to no overnight relief,” the NWS said of regions under an excessive heat warning. “Prepare for dangerous heat, limit outdoor activities.”

Even along the bay shore, temperatures Tuesdays are expected to climb to the 80s and 90s , according to KRON4 Meteorologist John Shrable. In areas under a heat advisory, the NWS said, “there is a moderate to high risk to those who are heat sensitive, especially those without effective cooling or adequate hydration.”

If you’re looking for relief, your best bet is likely the coast, where temperatures are only expected to reach the 70s.

Wednesday is not expected to be quite as hot as Tuesday, but the real cooldown is unlikely to come until the weekend, according to Shrable.
