The Buffalo Bills’ offense underwent some major changes during the 2024 offseason. Quarterback Josh Allen is going to be surrounded by a lot of new faces at wide receiver.

Gone are last season’s top two targets, wide receivers Stefon Diggs and Gave Davis. Diggs was traded to the Houston Texans, while Davis signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars as a free agent.

The only significant holdover at wide receiver from last season is Shakir Khalil. He will now be joined by veterans Curtis Samuel, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Mack Hollins, Chase Claypool and K.J. Hamler.

Also joining the group is second-round pick, Keon Coleman. That is a lot of new faces that Josh Allen will have to build up chemistry and cohesion with.

As the Buffalo Bills prepare for training camp, a lot of people would argue that they have suffered a downgrade at wide receiver this offseason. Diggs is a legitimate No. 1 receiver and Davis has had some memorable postseason performances.

But, one NFL analyst believes the moves made this offseason are addition by subtraction. During a recent segment on The Carton Show, Connor Hughes of SNY revealed a bold take on the Buffalo Bills.

“Without Stefon Diggs, you’re going to see a significantly better Josh Allen,” Hughes predicted .

That is certainly a hot take from the NFL analyst. Conventional wisdom would be a quarterback’s performance dropping off when they lose a player as talented as Diggs in the passing game.

He has made the Pro Bowl the last four seasons, with appearances on an All-Pro team twice. Diggs caught at least 103 passes in all four seasons with the franchise, surpassing the 1,100 plateau each season as well.

But, Hughes believes that loss will actually help the Buffalo Bills and Josh Allen. Without Diggs in the mix, there won’t be pressure to force the ball his way, as star wide receivers want the ball in their hands as much as possible.

Instead, Josh Allen can work the ball around to all of his skill position players, keeping the opposing defense on its toes. The Buffalo Bills will need someone to emerge from their group as a go-to receiver, but as long as Allen is in the lineup, they will be competitive.
