‘Today’: Jenna Bush Hager Says Her 4-Year-Old Claimed ‘Yellowstone’s Lainey Wilson Asked Him To Be Her “Boyfriend” — Then He Dumped Her

Grammy-winning country singer Lainey Wilson certainly made an impression when she visited Today this summer.

Jenna Bush Hager revealed during a recent broadcast that her four-year-old son, Hal, developed a bit of a crush on Wilson when they met on Today in June.

“Remember when Lainey was here? This is something you wouldn’t believe unless you saw it, and I saw it,” Bush Hager told Hoda Kotb .

“I introduced my kids to her and afterwards, Hal Hager, age four… whispered to Mila, ‘She asked me to be her boyfriend. Lainey asked me if I would be her boyfriend,'” she recalled. “And Mila was like, ‘That singer?’ [Hal said], ‘Yeah she asked me, and now I’m her boyfriend.'”

The story made both Today hosts laugh as Bush Hager continued, “So then Henry and I kind of made fun of him and then I heard him the other day say, ‘Well, I called and broke up with her.'”

During her recent visit to Today , the Yellowstone actress reflected on just how far she’s come with her career, from getting rejected from American Idol seven times to winning a Grammy and starring in Taylor Sheridan ‘s critically acclaimed Paramount series.

After their laughter subsided, Bush Hager had a special message for Wilson, if she ever decides to come back to Today : “Lainey, you have an admirer named Hal Hager who has created a whole story about how y’all once dated and then he called and dumped you, which we know is false.”

It’s always a fun time when Bush Hager brings her kids around the Today set.

In 2022, Bush Hager’s nine-year-old daughter shocked America when she announced that her mother “ never wears underwear .”

As the Today crew laughed, she then added, “She’s not wearing it right now! I saw her change,” while Bush Hager tried to shoo her off the stage.
