Hinds’ long-awaited LP Viva Hinds isn’t coming out until Sept. 6, but the Spanish alt-rock duo of Carlotta Cosials and Ana García Perrote have been slowly rolling out singles from it all year. The latest one, “Superstar,” centers on the pain of being ghosted after a longterm relationship.

“’Superstar’ talks about the disappointment and the pain you feel when someone you love deeply, disappears with no explanation,” the group said in a statement. “You feel worthless, you start thinking you never really knew that person and you question your shared past, and if what you remember really happened. It’s hard to let people go but writing this song helped. People need closure, and this song is ours.”

Viva Hinds is the group’s first LP since 2020’s The Prettiest Curse . They’ve toured extensively throughout the past few years, playing Lollapalooza in 2022, and opening up for the Strokes at a pair of Brooklyn arena shows. They parted ways with bassist Ade Martín and drummer Amber Grimbergen that same year. “You might feel as heartbroken as we felt, but luckily music has the power to heal an aching soul,” they wrote to fans in a statement announcing the news. “We’ve been through something very hurtful but we’re gonna carry on: We believe in Hinds more than anything in the world. If you’re in, we are in.”

Remaining members Cosials and Perrote recruited bassist Paula Ruiz and drummer Maria Lázaro to replace them. The new lineup has spent the past few months playing club gigs in Europe and North America to ramp up excitement for Viva Hinds . They return to the road in October for a long string of dates that will keep them busy through the spring of 2025.

“Superstar” is the fourth single from Viva Hinds following “ Coffee ,” “ Boom Boom Back ,” and “Ena Forma.” The album features guest appearances from Beck and Fontaines D.C. singer Grian Chatten.
