For the average worker in America, lunch is a much-needed break to free their mind, catch up on missed news or messages, and, oh yeah, maybe remember to eat food . When it’s time for lunch, there always seems to be a number of factors to consider: like where to eat, what to eat and who to eat with. One thing that rarely comes to mind is what container to eat your lunch out of.

But thanks to a TikTok video from Sporked , there may be a new way to eat salad. Let’s keep it real—grab-and-go food near the office tends to be expensive, especially salad (looking at you, Sweetgreen ). And forget about ordering a chopped salad from your favorite restaurant or paying for the weighted salad bars.

Whenever there’s a deal on bagged salads at the grocery store, most of us buy a couple of them and maybe add a protein or extra toppings. If you want to simplify your salad -eating during lunchtime and have some fun in the process, check out our new favorite lunch trick— mixing and eating the salad out of the bag that it’s sold in.

How Does The Bagged Salad Trick Work?

The Sporked video is in response to a comment on a previous video where followers wondered why the person in the video was eating bagged salad out of the bag.

The creator takes people through the process step by step, starting by cutting off the top of Target’s Good & Gather Chopped Caesar Salad bag, but you can use any brand and type of bagged salad, of course.

The creator reminds viewers to examine the greens before they get going to make sure they lettuce isn't past its prime. Side note: Before you start turning store-bought prepackaged salads into bowls, check the expiration date. And when you're shopping, skip any puffy bags and make sure the ingredients inside aren’t wet.

Once you cut off the top of the bag, pour in half of the toppings, add some of the dressing, shake and massage the bag, then add the remaining toppings. This two-step approach allows the dressing and mix-ins to be distributed more evenly, rather than gathering together in one big "salad ball" with some sad naked leaves in the bottom of the bag. With all the ingredients inside the salad bag, cut the excess plastic from the top of the bag for easier eating and to prevent you from getting salad dressing on your arm every time you go in for a bite.

This bagged salad trick isn’t easier than dumping it into a bowl, but it sure is a fun way to eat. Plus, if you’re eating in the car or on the train, the cleanup is pretty easy. One of the funniest aspects of The Sporked video is that the person didn’t have a fork, so she ate her bagged salad with a plastic spoon. Perhaps that will be the next big trend!
