( WJET/WFXP ) — New officers have been promoted to the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission board, according to a release.

Daniel Pastore, the vice president for PFBC and commissioner for District 1 , was elected as the board’s president. He will replace current President William Gibney, of Honesdale, Wayne County.

He was previously appointed as District 1’s commissioner in June 2019.

“It has been an honor to represent the board in the northwest region and I am humbled for the opportunity to now serve as president,” said Pastore. “In this expanded role, I’m excited to work even more closely with my fellow commissioners, including Vice President Mahn, Executive Director Schaeffer, and staff, to help guide the agency’s mission across the Commonwealth.”

In anticipation of his new role, Pastore laid out many goals he plans to accomplish for the year, including obtaining additional public access to waterways, simplifying fishing and boating regulations, and improving partnerships with fellow wildlife and conservation agencies.

Additionally, John Mahn, Jr., District 2 commissioner, was elected to replace Pastore as the board’s vice president.

Both Pastore and Mahn will serve one-year terms through July 2025.
