The artist collective known as MSCHF has announced a new avant-garde shoe, a high heel slide referred to as “Flipped Flop,” set to release on July 30 at 2 p.m. ET.

Available in a navy and white colorway for $450, the unique shoe includes one curved sole with a strap on either end so that each shoe resembles two connected slides. The straps read “mschf performance sports” in white lettering.

The heel of the shoe is created with the sole sloping upward and then curving downward in an S-shape that elevates the shoe off the ground. The heel then extends upward into the shape of another sole, with this part of the shoe supporting the back of the leg.

MSCHF’s description of the shoe reads, “One Slide, Two Slide, Real Slide, Heel Slide. The Flipped Flop is inspired by classic kick-around pool slides, conjoined, lengthened, and curled up into a 4.5” loft high heel. The ankle cuff fastens via adjustable velcro, and is flexible against the ankle; the heel is fully rigid and contains a nylon shank. The forefoot cuff uses a standard high heel fit over the front of the foot. Flip, flop over, and kick your feet up. It’s summer, baby.”
MSCHF has gained recognition for creating campy, outside-the-box shoes — many of which are controversially inspired by other companies’ shoes. Vans won an appeal in court to ban MSCHF’s sale of its Wavy Baby shoe for its resemblance to Vans’ Old Skool sneaker. The collective also recently collaborated with Acronym to create a new version of the Super Normal sneaker , which is influenced by the Nike Air Force 1 Low. In addition to the new Flipped Flop, other whimsical shoes from MSCHF include the popular Big Red Boot , meant to resemble a cartoon shoe, and its black iteration .
