The technical name of British babydoll sheep is actually "Olde English Babydoll Southdown Sheep." Katie Selvedge explains on her super informative website that these adorable animals are pretty small , and "They grow about 18-24 inches tall.I’m 5’2” and my flock would barely graze my knee-height.This is perfect if you have a hobby farm and space is limited." They weigh on average 75 pounds.

Babydoll sheep are known for their friendly and gentle nature. They are often described as being "smiley" due to their little upturned mouths, which gives them a perpetual, sweet little grin. Their gentle temperament makes them excellent pets and ideal for small farms or hobby farms. They have such sweet faces!

These sheep are also excellent workers and despite their small size, Babydoll sheep are very efficient grazers . They are often used in vineyards and orchards for weed control, as they can graze around the base of trees and vines without damaging them. Their grazing habits help manage vegetation naturally, reducing the need for herbicides.

Babydoll sheep produce a high-quality fleece that is fine, dense, and springy. Their wool is prized by hand spinners and fiber artists for its softness and versatility. The fleece is typically white, but there are also black Babydoll sheep, which produce a beautiful wool.

All I know is that these little smiley sheep are absolutely adorable. I wonder if they get along well with cats?
