What A Relief is due out on October 25 via Phoebe Bridgers’ Saddest Factory Records, and Gavin describes it as “Lilith Fair-core.” She says, “This record spans a lot of my life – it’s about having a really deep desire for connection, but also encountering all the obstacles that stood in my way to be able to achieve that, patterns of isolation or even boredom with the real work of love. What A Relief explores and portrays it honestly, without shame.” Mitski features on one song, “As Good As It Gets,” and you can see the cover art and tracklist below.

Pittsburgh-based singer-songwriter Merce Lemon has a new album, Watch Me Drive Them Dogs Wild, out in September, and ahead of that she has a few shows lined up this summer. She stopped in Brooklyn for a show at Elsewhere Zone One on Sunday, where her set included her lovely recent singles “Will You Do Me a Kindness” and “Backyard Lover,” and a beautiful cover of Bonnie “Prince” Billy’s “I See a Darkness.” Her earnest folk gets some noisy roughened edges from the riffs that guitarist Reid Magette was ripping throughout, and it makes for a great combination.

NJ deathcore greats Fit for an Autopsy have announced a new album, The Nothing That Is. It’s their seventh LP, and it’s due out on October 25 via Nuclear Blast. It was produced by guitarist Will Putney at his Graphic Nature Audio studio, and the band say, “The Nothing That Is is a full realization of our identity and intention. Every song on this record serves a purpose, and it feels like our most dynamic and powerful album to date. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.” They’ll be releasing the lead single, “Hostage,” this Friday, and you can see the cover art and tracklist below.

King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard have shared a second song from their soon-to-be-released 26th album Flight b741. “Hog Calling Contest” definitely has a honky tonk twang to it, in the band’s own inimitable way. “While recording Flight b741, we occasionally had these ultra inspired tune-up/warm-up jams,” say the band. “Of course, we were never actually recording during these moments though. Lost to time. Except one time; This time. We learnt to record these moments; ‘Daily Blues’ came together this way too. But ‘Hog Calling Contest’ retains a unique unhinged-ness that only comes when you’re fooling around with your mates and you don’t think you’re being recorded. Happy in mud!”
