Second Gent Emhoff Rips Trump After Reporter Asks About ‘Names He’s Already Calling’ VP Kamala Harris

Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff tore into former President Donald Trump when a reporter asked him about attacks that Trump has been launching at Vice President Kamala Harris since President Joe Biden dropped out and endorsed her.

After weeks of turmoil, Biden announced Sunday he would no longer be seeking a second term and threw his support behind his veep. Within the next day, Harris amassed enough delegate support to become the presumptive nominee .

Trump has responded with a steady stream of attacks on Harris.

After his appearance at a reproductive rights roundtable Tuesday, a reporter asked Emhoff about those attacks, in particular the names he has been calling the VP. Emhoff hit back:

REPORTER: As the election gets going, President Trump has already started attacking the vice president. Your reaction to the names he’s already — he’s calling her?

SECOND GENTLEMAN DOUG EMHOFF: That’s all he’s got?

Look. You heard the vice president yesterday making the case against Donald Trump very clearly, laid out the case, directly and in a compelling fashion.

But she also laid out a vision for the future, a vision where there’s freedom, where we’re not having to talk about these issues of today, in this post- Dobbs hellscape that Donald Trump created.

So we need to — yes, we’re going to prosecute the case against Donald Trump and his lies, his gaslighting, his, during Covid, the dereliction of duty, inciting an insurrection, and all those other things. We’re going to make that very clear. And she’s going to be able to make that case.

But we’re also going to move on from this type of environment, this Dobbs , where freedoms are taken away, where autonomy is taken away, where they’re telling you you can’t read this book, they’re telling you you can’t learn these facts. They’re telling you you can’t vote.

All that is going to change. And it must change.

You see the enthusiasm. You see the excitement. You saw the money raised. You saw the party coalesce. You saw the broad base of support that she had in just 1 or 2 days, because she’s talking about an America that we all have a place in.

And that’s why Kamala Harris, who I’m so proud of — I’m also so proud of the president. I got choked up, yesterday in Wilmington when he called in. All of us did. What a great man. Love Joe Biden.
