With the New York Jets’ players reporting to training camp, one notable name is not there: pass rusher Haason Reddick. The newly acquired Reddick is holding out until he signs a new contract. Will the Jets and Reddick come to terms on a new deal?

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Reddick does not plan to report to training camp as he irons out a new deal with the Jets.

Reddick is entering the final year of a three-year, $45 million contract. Reddick’s salary this season is $14.25 million non-guaranteed in base pay, with the ability to earn $500,000 in incentives.

Reddick will be fined $50,000 per day for every missed day of training camp. The fine cannot be waived under the collective bargaining agreement.

Reddick skipped the entire offseason, forfeiting his $250,000 workout bonus, and received a $50,000 fine for skipping the mandatory minicamp.

In March, the Jets acquired Reddick from the Philadelphia Eagles for a 2026 conditional third-round pick.

According to ESPN’s Rich Cimini, the Jets tried to sign Reddick to an extension when the trade occurred. The Jets are open to extension talks but won’t negotiate with a player not in camp.

Haason Reddick Wants To Be Paid Like Top Edge Rusher

Reddick has become one of the NFL’s best pass rushers. Reddick has registered at least 11 sacks in four consecutive seasons. His 27 sacks over the last two seasons are fourth behind Myles Garrett (30), Nick Bosa (29) and Micah Parsons (27.5).

At $15 million per year, Reddick is ranked 19th among all edge rushers (Over the Cap).

Reddick is reportedly seeking a contract that pays him at least $25 million per year, putting him in the top five highest-paid edge rushers.
