He thanked him for helping so many people get “through a dark time or a rough patch” Zak recently shared that his father had been battling with ongoing health issues before his death, and received an incorrect diagnosis.

Robin Williams was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease two years before his death. He was suffering from a brain disorder that caused involuntary movements such as shaking, stiffness, and difficulty with balance and coordination. William's was also said to be suffering from poor mental health, including depression and anxiety.

After Williams’ passed away by suicide in 2014, his autopsy revealed that he had been suffering from undiagnosed Lewy body dementia (LBD), which was causing symptoms that were similar to Parkinson's. However, the Parkinson's diagnosis was incorrect.

Lewy body dementia is the second-most common type of dementia after Alzheimer's disease, and there is currently no known cure or treatment to slow down the aggressive neurological disease.
