Wife Of Current AEW Star Has Signed With The Promotion

Melissa Santos entered the pro wrestling business in 2012 as part of the Women of Wrestling relaunch, going by the name La Niña. However, most fans know her best from her time as a ring announcer in Lucha Underground or when she appeared alongside her husband, Brian Cage, in Impact Wrestling. And while she has been absent from television in recent years due to focusing on motherhood, she has now announced on Instagram she has signed with AEW, using the hashtags #announcer and #backstageinterviews.

Earlier this year, the 39-year-old revealed on the Lightweights Podcast that she tried out for WWE back in 2020 but didn’t receive a callback. Yet during the interview, she didn’t sound too despondent, as she also disclosed that she had “ some things brewing this year, ” Seemingly, this was joining AEW, which makes sense considering Cage signed a long-term contract with the promotion in 2023.
