    Bobby Lashley.

AEW doesn't have an excellent track record with powerhouse talents. While WWE does a fantastic job of showcasing powerful athletes such as Brock Lesnar and Batista, AEW has often fallen short with their booking decisions being the primary issue. Wardlow is the biggest powerhouse fumble in recent years.

According to Fightful Select , two-time WWE World Champion Bobby Lashley is expected to leave WWE in the near future.

“Lashley’s contract with WWE will expire soon — possibly within just a matter of weeks," Fightful Select reported.

Lashley's former tag partner MVP is also expected to leave the company. As such, AEW has been floated as the most logical landing spot. Lashley is still a major name in the wrestling business and could help draw in a new wave of fans. According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer, both Lashley and MVP are exploring the possibility of teaming up in AEW.

“I know there is talk of them trying to get into AEW, it’s one of those things where technically nobody can talk to them because I don’t believe either’s contracts has expired, but their contracts are going to expire and they are at this point, as things stand right now, WWE is under the assumption that they’re gone and that they are going to try and revamp The Hurt Business,” Meltzer said.

If AEW can secure Lashley, he will be a major coup for the company. He is an explosive athlete who can thrive in a multitude of match types. He's also a former ECW champion and would likely embrace the more physical nature of Tony Khan's promotion.

However, AEW would take a risk by bringing multiple members of The Hurt Business into the fold. Fumbling the former WWE standouts would be a major misstep by the company. If it does land Lashley and MVP, AEW must ensure it has adequate storylines to hit the ground running.

Otherwise, AEW should allow Lashley and MVP to land with another promotion. Its roster is already bloated. Unless it can envision the additions being a home run for the company and the fanbase, Khan could potentially open himself up for further criticism for how he handles talent — which is precisely what AEW doesn't need right now.

After all, AEW is finally rebuilding some momentum after a tough few months.
