WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – One of two people arrested after police were called to investigate a reported burglary entered a plea on Tuesday.

Brittany Shook, 31, pleaded guilty to an amended indictment of attempted trespass into a habitation when a person is likely to be present, a fifth-degree felony charge, according to court records. Shook entered the plea in Trumbull County Court of Common Pleas.

Police arrested Shook, along with Anthony Talbert, after they were called to a home in the 500 block of Parkman Road NW on March 31. They were called there by someone who saw lights on in the home and knew that the home’s resident had recently passed away.

According to a police report, when officers arrived, they found Shook sitting on the floor and Talbert hiding under a couch bed in the living room.

The police report states Shook was found to have keys to the home, and she told police that she and Talbert were given the keys to the residence by one of Talbert’s friends. Shook stated that they were supposed to be cleaning the house out and the friend said they could stay there.

Police said the home appeared ransacked and there was no indication any cleaning had been done.

Police contacted the next of kin to the deceased victim and were advised they did not know Talbert and Shook nor did they have permission to be in the house.

Shook’s sentencing in the case is set for Aug. 29.

Talbert is due in court for a pretrial on Aug. 14.
