The Wisconsin Department of Transportation will hold a public involvement meeting in July to discuss proposed changes for Highway 29, between Highway E South and Purple Martin Lane (westbound) in Marathon County.

The meeting is set for 5 p.m. July 25 at the Edgar Village Hall, 224 South Third Ave., Edgar. A brief presentation is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. followed by an open house where residents can ask questions.

The proposed project will include the following:

    • Replacing pavement on Highway 29 (Highway E South to Pheasant Falls Road)
    • Concrete pavement overlay (Pheasant Falls Road to Purple Martin Lane)
    • Replacing guardrail under Highway 97 and Highway H
    • Replacing guardrail at the Highway 97 and Highway H interchanges
    • Replacing pavement along Highway 97 (approximately 3,000 feet)
    • Replacing pavement at the Highway H interchange
    • Replacing entrance and exit ramps at the Highway 97 and Highway H interchanges
    • Spot culvert replacement

Work will be completed under three construction IDs, with construction scheduled to begin in 2026. The highway will remain open during construction, however, the westbound traffic will be crossed over to the eastbound lanes where one lane will be maintained in each direction. During construction on Highway 97, the roadway will be closed, and a posted detour will be provided. Westbound entrance and exit ramps for Highway 29 at Highway 97 and Highway H will also experience closures.
