Tim Dillion returning to Netflix for another comedy special. This time around though, it appears it won't just be stand-up. It was just announced that the popular podcaster (make sure to check out The Tim Dillon Show if you haven't already) will have an unscripted talk-show-style as a Netflix special this fall, with the focus of the program being on the current events of America.
Deadline first reported the exciting news, and described the untitled special as follows: "Set over the backdrop of the upcoming election, Dillon’s new hour will focus on the most important, but often overlooked, element of our political system: The People. And pose the question: Do we get what we deserve? Topics will lead to conversations no one wants to have at the holiday table." Dillon will star in and host the show, and will also serve as the program's creator and executive producer. If you are familiar with Tim Dillon's work, it's sure to be a no-holds-barred comedy event. You can tell that already just by how the comedian helped share the news of his special online. And by that, I mean he took a shot at the former Secret Service Director Kim Cheatle (who resigned today following the Trump assassination attempt) by asking her to be on his show for a moment that a lot of Americans would tune in for if she somehow, inexplicably agreed to do so:
"Kim Cheatle please respond to our request for you to have a picnic with me on the sloped roof. Would be good for America." https://twitter.com/TimJDillon/status/1815829636313383171 There's not a lot of information out about the Netflix special as of right now, but you can't rule out the fact that this new Tim Dillon project could air live on the streaming service. The streaming giant has successfully pulled off a number of live events as of late, including a week-long John Mulaney talk show event that aired live on a nightly basis. Like many other comedy fans, I would love to see Tim Dillon attack the U.S.A.'s biggest issues without any sort of tape delay... Perhaps this is a preview of the kind of hilarious commentary we can expect: https://twitter.com/MythinformedMKE/status/1719043908326363476
