Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey are open to a 'How to Lose a Guy' sequel

How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days was released over 20 years ago, and its male and female leads aren’t opposed to reuniting for a second movie. Both Hudson and McConaughey have discussed returning to their roles as Andie and Ben.

Hudson said, "I think they’re always thinking about that,” when asked about a potential sequel in a recent Watch What Happens Live interview with Andy Cohen. The script is a key factor and that’s what would sway Hudson’s decision.

“All that matters would be the script and if Matthew and I were into the script," she told Cohen. "I think we're both totally open, it has just never happened."

2023 was the film’s 20-year anniversary and Hudson mentioned a sequel in an interview with Vanity Fair. "People always ask us [about a sequel] but there’s nothing in the works."

She added, "I love working with Matthew, so I’m sure at some point we’ll work together again." Even though there’s no sequel happening right now, Hudson still imagined a future for her and McConaughey’s characters.

"My hope is that [Andie and Ben] are happy, they’ve got a bunch of kids, they got married, and they’re still playing Bullshit with his parents. If there was a sequel, I’m sure there would be some conflict in there somewhere,” she said.

This would be the duo’s third movie together

Besides starring in How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days , Hudson and McConaughey teamed up again in 2008 for Fool’s Gold. While shooting both of these movies, the two spent a total of 10 months together.
