Hope Given Regarding AJ Lee Potentially Returning To The Ring

When CM Punk returned to pro wrestling in 2021, fans immediately began speculating that it could lead to his wife, AJ Lee, returning to the ring herself. And while there have been some occasional teases of this on social media, during his now infamous interview with Ariel Helwani, the WWE star played down a potential comeback, telling the journalist when asked, “ Probably not. ” However, it appears that not all hope is lost, because while being interviewed by Pro Wrestling Illustrated , NXT’s Roxanne Perez revealed that Punk had been trying to convince Lee to come out of retirement.

“He’s trying to get her to come back; he’s pulling her in, but I hope one day she decides to come back and have a match with me.”

37-year-old Lee hasn’t wrestled since 2015 due to damage to her vertebrae, with her last match being a six-women tag match on Raw the night following WrestleMania 31. Yet, she has previously admitted that she is physically healed enough to compete again but added that she doesn’t think the challenge is there and instead would prefer for the next generation to have the spotlight.
