    Man arrested on heroin, cocaine charges in Edgecombe County

    ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. (WNCT) — The Edgecombe County Sheriff’s Office wrapped up a months-long investigation into the selling and delivery of heroin and crack cocaine by arresting a man in the Rocky Mount and Battleboro areas.

    During the investigation, Justin Antwane Macklin, 36, of Whitakers, sold heroin and cocaine to multiple cooperating witnesses. Macklin was arrested at a traffic stop and admitted he was headed to make another sale.

    “The Edgecombe County citizens do not deserve to have their county polluted with drug activity,” Edgecombe County Sheriff Clee Atkinson. “We will continue to pursue all involved in any activity like it.”

    Macklin was charged with:

    • Two counts possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver heroin
    • Two counts selling/delivering heroin
    • Two counts possession with intent to sell/deliver cocaine
    • Two counts selling/delivering cocaine
    • Two counts conspiracy to sell/deliver cocaine

    In addition, Macklin was also served an outstanding order for arrest from Nash County for assault with serious bodily injury. Macklin was jailed without bond.
