Simone Biles will get the final say over how much she'll be doing at the Paris Olympics.

Chellsie Memmel, the technical lead for the U.S. women, told reporters on Tuesday that Biles will have the choice over how many team events she'll compete in during the finals. Memmel said the decision came after a discussion with Biles's coach.

"Chellsie Memmel said she has talked with Cecile Landi, Simone Biles's coach, about the option for Biles to not compete all four events in the team final if they feel that's what's best for her," reporter Emily Giambalvo wrote on X . "Decision is up to Biles but the option is available."

Biles ended up withdrawing from several events at the Toyko Olympics in 2021 after suffering a case of the "twisties," losing her sense of direction when she was in the air. The 27-year-old has since recovered, becoming the oldest U.S. gymnast to qualify for the Olympics since 1950.

Memmel said she believes it will help Biles to know that she can determine how many of the four team events she will compete in, adding that the gold medalist is in a good place ahead of the Summer Games.
