When Katie Maloney and Tom Schwartz announced their separation in March 2022, viewers were not all that surprised. For years, the couple had just been keeping their heads above water with no real sense of direction. Vanderpump Rules fans often watched Katie become frustrated as her husband picked everyone but her to support. Tom, who often comes across as a follower, didn’t seem to understand that he needed to put his wife first before his friendship with Tom Sandoval or anyone else. But after two years back in the dating pool Tom might be starting to have some regrets about saying goodbye.

Tom Schwartz has regrets

Tom opened up about his divorce with Zack Peter and Jeff Epstein while on the Disaster Daters podcast. The Tom Tom owner noted, “I think maybe the worst part was having your dream home and then having to go back to renting again.” The regret makes sense since rent in Los Angeles has gotten slightly out of hand. Fans will recall that Season 11 showed Schwartz contemplating moving in with Sandy. In the interview, Schwartzy joked, “I mean, it’s still on the table. If you had made me decide right now, I would probably lean towards no, but… I think I need my own space.”

What would Tom have changed?

Tom and Katie’s marriage wasn’t the easiest or smoothest going on reality TV. Viewers could tell there were issues even up to the wedding where Lisa Vanderpump married them. Looking back, Tom finally realized that he could have been a better husband to Katie. Schwartz went on to say, “Just validating feelings more often. And being a better listener. Letting Katie vent more often without me judging or me trying to provide a solution too fast, you know what I mean? Like, trying to be too logical.”

Bravo cameras often caught Tom ignoring his wife’s ideas. The worst fights seemed to be when he decided to partner with Sandy and open up the bar. Katie, who has a background in hospitality, was ignored time and time again when giving her opinion. Finally, the Something About Her owner became fed up with being excluded and just gave up.

Could Lala be a love interest?

During Season 11, it felt as if Lala Kent was looking for a man in finance, trust fund, 6 5, blue eyes, but somehow landed her sights on Big Daddy Schwartz. During the latest season, the two were filmed hanging out quite a bit, with fans wondering if their chemistry had ever really been tested. Viewers also started to hypothesize that Lala was looking for a beta guy, unlike her ex, who could be a beta good stand-in father figure but also be bossed around. Let’s be honest, Tom is a perfect match.

Tom didn’t deny that at one point in time, he was attracted to the mother of two. The Schwartz & Sandy’s owner thought back, saying, “Maybe when she first came onto the scene, like subconsciously. And she was just such a character but nothing I ever wanted to act on or I wasn’t like, lusting. You know, I could appreciate her, not just her beauty, but also her spunk — spark, yeah, her pizzaz… I think fans are reaching.” But for now, it seems Tom has shelved his lusty thoughts as he also has a serious girlfriend. While he isn’t ready to get married again, Tom has been spotted out and about with Sophia Skoro , a 23-year-old model.

Katie Maloney is thriving

Katie, on the other hand, doesn’t seem to regret her divorce one bit. Season 11 showed the Vanderpump Rules star happy and freer than ever. She was finally allowed to speak her mind and stand up for herself. She has learned to keep Tom at arm’s length and even went after the same girl he was interested in just for sport. Now that her new restaurant with Ariana Madix is finally open, Katie will have little time to think about what might have been. So, while Tom might be harboring some pent-up emotions, Katie seems to be living her best life as a single woman.
