3 in custody after pursuit in Stafford County; 1 deputy hurt

STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. ( DC News Now ) — The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) said a deputy was hurt while pursuing three suspects on Tuesday evening.

SCSO said at around 5 p.m., deputies located a person in a car who was wanted. That person, along with two others, were in the car headed northbound on I-95.

Deputies started chasing the car from Centreport Parkway. The suspected car exited off Courthouse Road, turned around and headed southbound, back onto Centreport Parkway.

When the suspected car got down the off-ramp, it crashed, giving deputies enough time to intentionally crash into the suspected car.

SCSO said the driver, who was wanted, was taken into custody. A second and third passenger were also taken into custody.

SCSO said the second passenger was also wanted but were still trying to identify the third passenger to determine their custody status.

SCSO did not say what the three suspects were wanted for.

One deputy got hurt during the pursuit and was being treated by first responders. He is expected to be OK, SCSO said.

In the meantime, Centreport Parkway, between I-95 and Richmond Highway, has been shut down. Drivers are asked to find other ways around.
