DENVER (KDVR) — On Tuesday, the Colorado Secretary of State’s Office announced that the mandatory recount of the Colorado Republican’s primary race for House District 58 returned the same result as the unofficial vote tally.

The recount found that candidate Larry Don Suckla was the winner by just three votes, the same margin announced in the unofficial tally.

“The mandatory recount for House District 58 is complete and has confirmed the results of the race with just a three-vote margin,” said Secretary of State Jena Griswold in a release. “I commend the election workers in the eight counties in House District 58 for conducting this recount.”

Investigation launched in Dolores County after 23% of voters didn’t receive ballots

Suckla was racing against J. Mark Roeber, who received 6,486 votes.

“We won by a landslide three votes,” Suckla wrote in a Facebook post. “We are the official rep candidate on the ballot for November. Now we need to beat the Democrat competitor.”

The mandatory recount was ordered on July 15. Under Colorado law, races with a difference in votes of 0.5% or less must be recounted.

Suckla will face off with Democratic candidate Kathleen Curry in the November election.

House District 58 encompasses portions of Delta and Montezuma counties, as well as all of Dolores, Gunnison, Hinsdale, Montrose, Ouray and San Miguel counties.
