TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Vigo County Commissioners presented $50,000 to local non-profit Manna From Seven on Tuesday. The money comes from American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding.

Manna From Seven, which provides food to people in need, will put the money toward buying a 26-foot box truck to transport food.

The organization currently has to rent a truck, so having one of their own will save them money and be more convenient.

“This is going to allow us to have a reliable vehicle to take to the food bank every week and pick up food that we will then give to the community, to the people that come here,” Susan Seitz, CEO of Manna From Seven said.

Vigo County Commissioner Mark Clinkenbeard says the organization does so much good for the community, feeding a lot of people every week.

“Right now they rent a truck and drive over to Indianapolis every week to get supplies,” Clinkenbeard said. “This is going to help them buy a new truck along with the city, the city is helping them also with this. This is also another example of the city and county working together on things for our community.”

The organization also provides haircuts and laundry to those in need, as well as essential items. You can learn more about them here.
