What to know about Dwyane Wade as NBC's Olympic basketball commentator at Paris Games

NBC has selected Dwyane Wade as the color commentator for the U.S. men’s Olympic basketball team at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games . The network chose Noah Eagle to lead the calling of both the men’s and women’s basketball games .

NBC Olympics president and executive producer Molly Solomon told USA TODAY Sports in June that she is always looking for new voices and that Wade checked the box of having international competition experience. She knows he has limited game-calling experience, but had been impressed by his previous work in the studio with TNT — plus being friends with LeBron James also helps.

"He’s so thoughtful, and of course, has experience with so many members of the team," Solomon said. “So I think there’ll be a lot of personal storytelling. He’ll have access to members of that team to get new insight. And I look forward to hearing a new voice in the basketball space."

Wade’s performance this summer could pave the way for a more permanent role at NBC, especially with the network acquiring NBA broadcasting rights starting in the 2025-26 season. LaChina Robinson will join Eagle for Team USA women’s basketball contests.
