Pinpoint Weather: Rainy weather pattern continues

ROANOKE, Va. ( WFXR ) — The unsettled weather pattern will continue across Southwest and Central Virginia as a stationary front lingers over the Mid-Atlantic.

Wednesday will start with spotty rain showers, patchy fog, and morning temperatures in the 60s and lower 70s. Overall, it will be a cloudy and dreary day with afternoon temperatures in the upper 70s and 80s.

Scattered showers and storms will have the chance to move through during the afternoon and evening. A few storms may pack a punch when it comes to heavy rainfall and gusty winds. Localized flooding remains a concern.

Keep the umbrella handy! Expect periods of rain on Thursday as scattered showers and storms impact the region. Morning lows will be in the 60s and lower 70s while afternoon temperatures will rise into the lower/middle 80s.

Rain chances will decrease on Friday as a front pushes through Southwest and Central Virginia. A few showers and storms are possible with variably cloudy skies overhead. Due to the passing front, there is a greater potential for scattered showers and storms south of US 460. Afternoon highs will be in the lower/middle 80s.

Isolated showers and storms cannot be ruled out for the weekend, but the weather pattern looks drier thanks to an area of high pressure. For Saturday and Sunday, expect a mix of sun and clouds overhead with afternoon temperatures warming into the 80s.
