Texas high school football: Key dates for the 2024 season

As August approaches, so too does the start of Texas high school football. The first practices of the upcoming season are less than two weeks away.

Here are some key dates for the 2024 UIL Texas high school football season.

When is the first day of UIL Texas high school football practice?

The first day of practice is Aug. 5 for Class 1A through 4A, along with 5A and 6A programs that did not conduct spring football. Programs that held spring football can start practice Aug. 12.

When are the first games for UIL Texas high school football?

The season kicks off Aug. 29.

When do the UIL Texas high school football playoffs begin?

The playoffs begin Nov. 14, following 11 weeks of the regular season.

When are the UIL Texas high school football championships?

The UIL state championships will be Dec. 18-21 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington.
