Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been slammed for sharing a personal statement just hours after Kate Middleton released of a new photo of Prince George to celebrate his 11th birthday .

It's been announced that the Invictus Games will be taking place in the UK for the first time since 2014, as Birmingham emerged victorious over Washington DC to host the event. After the announcement, Harry shared an emotional message as he congratulated Birmingham for its successful bid .

"Congratulations to Birmingham, UK, on winning the bid to host the Invictus Games 2027," he said. "Your city's strong ties to the armed forces community made it a formidable contender from the very start.

"Over the years, we've seen each city bring a unique spirit and vision to life for competitors, their families and spectators. We have no doubt the people of Birmingham will join in celebrating the unwavering respect and admiration we have for our veteran and service community, showing the world how their courage ignites hope and unites us all - something your city knows well."

At the same time, Meghan was seen enjoying a low-key dinner in Montecito with Father Of The Bride star Kimberly Williams-Paisley. The pals were pictured leaving the swanky Italian eatery Tre Lune, where Meghan paid a special tribute to her late mother-in-law Princess Diana.

She was seen carrying around her custom-embroidered Dior bag with "DSSOS", short for the Duchess of Sussex. The handbag was a touching nod to her late mother-in-law Princess Diana, for whom the Christian Dior Lady D-Lite bag was named after.

Royal commentator Dan Wootton expressed his disapproval for Meghan and Harry's latest move on his show Outspoken . He said: "This is also really terrible. Prince Harry upstaged young Prince George's lovely birthday release of those pictures by Catherine Middleton by announcing on the same day that the Invictus Games are going to be held in Birmingham in 2027.

"It does just show you how pathetic Prince Harry is. He knew it was George's birthday, he knew the picture was going to be released. He wants to steal the thunder with his Invictus Games announcement. It's just pathetic gameplaying yet again."

Royal expert Angela Levin added: "It's such a shame. I think Meghan likes to do that, we've seen that so many times. Every time the Royal Family do something, she has to do something just before and it's all carefully controlled. I've been told many times she knows exactly what she's doing, it's not a mistake, she's very cautious."
