After resounding success at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro and Tokyo's delayed 2020 Games, rugby sevens is back on the agenda at Paris 2024 as the 24 best men's and women's sides in the sport's high-octane shortened version arrive at the Stade de France ahead of this year's competition.
Both the men's and women's tournaments will feature 12 teams, and 16 nations overall are represented with half of those fielding teams in both editions of the sevens at Paris 2024. Argentina, Kenya, Samoa and Uruguay are solely represented by their men's teams, and all four will be looking to go all the way.
So too, of course, will be the USA Eagles, as a relatively experienced side arrives in Paris led by a legend of sevens in the form of Perry Baker. However's it's Fiji who are the team to beat having won the gold medal in both 2016 and 2021, while other big-hitters like New Zealand and South Africa will certainly be in contention.
One side who won't be causing the Eagles any worries are Great Britain, who despite winning bronze in Rio and recording a fourth-place finish in Tokyo, failed to qualify for the 2024 Games after losing the 2023 European Games title to Ireland, as the men in green secured an historic victory.

With eight straight days of men's and women's rugby coming up from Paris, the men take centre stage first, as their group stage begins on Wednesday, July 24 from 3:30 p.m. local time (CEST).
There's a bumper 12 matches on offer across all three of the four-team groups on the first day, with six to round off the action on Thursday, July 25 and decide the knockout stages.
These will begin on the same day with the lower seeded matches and quarterfinals between sides still in medal contention, and after a day off on July 26, all 12 of the placings will be determined with the 11th, 9th, 7th and 5th-place matches before the semifinals, bronze and gold medal matches on Saturday, July 27 , with the final kicking off at 7:45 p.m. local time (CEST).

Which teams will play men's rugby sevens at the 2024 Paris Olympics?
12 teams have qualified for this years Olympic Games in Paris, and will be split across three groups – A, B, and C. Playing each side in their group once, the top two teams head straight into the quarterfinals, and are joined by the two highest-ranked third-placed teams in the respective groups.
The three sides who finish bottom of their groups, plus the unsuccessful third-placed side, enter the playoff matches to decide 9th-12th place, while the four losing quarterfinalists do likewise to decide who finishes from 5th to 7th. The four winners from the last eight head into the semifinals.
In the last four, the two winners head into the gold medal match which brings the curtain down on men's sevens at Paris 2024, with the losing pair playing-off to decide who wins the bronze medal. The three groups at this year's Olympics are as follows, listed alphabetically:
