Former YG group iKON members have started a new chapter after departing from the music label in 2022. Here, we explore where the members are now in 2024, IKON’s recent activities, and their growth since the exit from YG.

YG Entertainment’s iKON debuted in 2015 with seven members: Jay, Song, Bobby, DK, June, Chan, and B.I. Later, B.I., aka Kim Hanbin, left the group in 2019. Three years after HaNbin’s departure, all other iKON members terminated their contract with YG and joined 143 Entertainment.

iKON Members: Where are they now in 2024?

After joining 143 Entertainment, iKON members made a new start to their K-pop career. The group re-entered the music scene with the release of the Take Off album on May 4, 2023. A year later, a few iKON members announced their hiatus for the upcoming mandatory military enlistment.

Fans will have to wait a bit longer to see the members reunited. Hence, we explore the most recent activities of iKON members and look at where they are now in 2024.

    Jay (Kim Jinhwan)

Kim Jinhwan, aka Jay, announced his military enlistment news on July 6, 2023. Three months after the group’s new studio album was released, Jay took to Instagram to share that he would enlist on July 20, 2023.

Jay wrote: “I feel regretful because there are so many things I’ve prepared and so many things that I still haven’t gotten the chance to show you, but because I know that our fans, who have waited for me, will feel even sadder, I’ll keep this short. I will diligently fulfill my duty and return quickly, so let’s find strength while thinking of each other, and please be well.”

Before his enlistment date, Jay released the mini album Blue Moon on July 18. He currently serves in the Korean military as a public service worker and is expected to return from the military in April 2025, as per Korean regulations.

    Song

K-pop icon Song Yunhyeong, aka iKON Song, recently announced his forthcoming military hiatus. The 29-year-old singer will enlist in the Korean military training program on August 13, 2024.

Song’s music label, 143 Entertainment, informed the singer of his plans before he enlisted, noting, “Song Yunhyung will spend time with his fandom, iKONIC, before enlisting.” Due to safety concerns, there will be no official event on the day of Song’s enlistment.

    Bobby

Kim Jiwon, also known as Bobby, has also surprised fans in 2024 by sharing his military enlistment news. The rapper released his 2024 comeback album Sir. Robert on February 28, 2024. Later, 143 Entertainment shared that Bobby would join the military training program this year. Finally, the 29-year-old singer enlisted on June 6, 2024.

Bobby addressed his fans in a handwritten letter before departing from the military. The “Cherry Blossom” crooner wrote on Instagram: “I miss you and miss you guys. Being here reminds me of many things, and I regret not being able to do good for you.

I’m sorry, and I should have been more thankful and grateful!! Things like this: When the flowers fall twice, I’ll be back and appear better and more awesome. Until then, you either have to go through difficulties and struggles in your own way, grow, and become better, or it’s good just staying as you are!! Wait for me with a little sadness!!

    DK

Kim Donghyuk, the main dancer of iKON, made his solo debut in 2024. The K-pop star released his first solo mini-album, Nakseo, on February 15. The album contained nine tracks, including the song “Grooving.” The EP also featured Bobby and Punch as collaborative artists in the songs “Still In My” and “Dickey,” respectively.

    June

Koo Junhoe, aka the main vocalist of iKON, kickstarted his acting career a few years back. The 27-year-old star appeared in famous K-dramas like True To Love and Twinkling Watermelon. In 2024, iKON Junhoe impressed fans with his big-screen debut in the film Again 1997.

    Chan

Jung Chanwoo, aka Chan, is the youngest member of iKON. However, despite being the youngest, Chanwoo has already enlisted in the military in 2024. The 26-year-old artist went to the military on May 27. The singer will end his military training in November 2024.

Bobby, Chanwoo, Song, and Jay will be reunited with iKONICS in 2025 after finishing their military training. Fans look forward to seeing what surprises await them as the members start a new chapter in the upcoming year.
