Rory McIlroy and Erica Stoll have been spotted donning matching watches during their getaway in Portugal.

The couple, who were on the brink of ending their marriage earlier this summer when McIlroy initiated divorce proceedings, appeared to be back on track .

The public got wind of their marital troubles after divorce documents surfaced, painting a picture of a 'broken' union just before the PGA Championship commenced.

However, not long after, McIlroy and Stoll decided against going their separate ways, calling off the separation.

As the US Open approached, McIlroy made a public statement, as reported by The Guardian: "There have been rumors about my personal life recently, which is unfortunate," he said. "Responding to each rumor is a fool's game. Over the past weeks, Erica and I have realized that our best future was as a family together. Thankfully, we have resolved our differences and look forward to a new beginning."

Subsequently, the duo made an appearance together at the Scottish Open earlier this month, ahead of McIlroy's participation in the recent Open Championship. Despite his efforts, the 2014 Open champion didn't make it past the first two rounds at Royal Troon, missing the cut after a challenging start.

McIlroy and Stoll were spotted jetting off to the Algarve for a holiday, both sporting Patek Philippe watches as they climbed into a 1990 Jeep Wagoner. McIlroy's World Time Chronograph is estimated to be worth a staggering $135,000, while Stoll's Nautilus Watch is valued at over $112,000.

Earlier in the week, the couple was seen soaking up the sun with their young daughter Poppy on the Algarve beaches. Stoll was photographed wearing her wedding ring, following sightings of McIlroy wearing his on the golf course in recent weeks.

In the past, McIlroy has mentioned not having had a holiday for 'four or five years', but this week he's enjoying some much-needed family time after his Open struggles. However, his focus will shift back to golf next week when he represents Ireland alongside Shane Lowry at the Olympic Games in Paris.
