Borough council members voted 4-2 choosing Mark Gill to fill the vacant mayoral position. He was chosen from four candidates.

The vacancy opened up earlier this month when longtime Mayor Alex Kovach announced his retirement after decades of service to the community.

Gill, a lifelong Sharpsville resident, was a facilities manager and purchasing director at First National Bank in Hermitage.
