Opa-locka, FL - A 33-year-old South Florida man is facing charges after allegedly robbing his former roommate at gunpoint for an electric scooter.

According to Opa-locka Police, the suspect, identified as Marcellus Dixon, has been charged with armed robbery with a weapon, illegal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and illegal possession of a weapon while committing an offense.

The incident unfolded around 3:30 a.m. Monday morning when the victim, who had recently moved out of Dixon's residence, met with Dixon at a pre-arranged location to discuss a debt.

Police report indicate an argument ensued, resulting in Dixon allegedly pulling out a gun and demanding the victim's electric scooter.

Fearing for his safety, the victim surrendered the scooter and later contacted the police.

Officers apprehended Dixon near the scene of the crime.

Witnesses, including the victim's girlfriend and another individual, corroborated the victim's account, stating they saw Dixon threaten the victim with a gun and take the scooter.

A search of the area led to the recovery of both the stolen electric scooter and the firearm used in the robbery.

Dixon, a convicted felon, was taken into custody and transported to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.

Bond information is not yet available.
