Believe it or not, Halle Berry ‘s Catwoman was released 20 years ago back in 2004. And while the movie might not have been a hit with critics at the time, Berry’s film has since been adored by fans, and become a underestimated superhero classic.

So, of course, Berry celebrated the 20-year mark in style. On Instagram , the Oscar-winner posted a series of photos wearing black underwear and a black cat-eye mask while holding her two sweet cats, Boots and Coco.

“And STILL… meow!” Berry wrote in the caption. “It’s been 20 years today since I had the honor of bringing this iconic character to life. She will always be close to my heart and I will forever be Patience Phillips aka CATWOMAN!”

Berry then concluded her caption with a shout-out to Jee H. Lim, the person who helped Berry rescue her kittens earlier this year in June. “Thank you @missjee79 !” she wrote. “When these black beauties showed up in my yard searching for their mother, Jee helped us through the rescue process. Forever grateful! ♥️”

In the comment section, fans of Berry are not only praising her incredible physique but her connection with her fur babies too. “Best looking woman, ever, period, and a cat lover!! 😻😻😻” wrote one user. “20 years where Ms. Berry!? You look phenomenal! 😍❤️😍❤️” wrote another. “like if you think part 2 is a “Purrrrr-fect” idea? 🐈‍⬛🖤✨” another championed.

Earlier this month, Berry marked the milestone anniversary by looking back at making the movie, and the unfortunate backlash that followed.

“Growing up as a Black woman, that’s two strikes against you,” she told Entertainment W e e k l y . “There’s an innate resilience. I hated that it got all put on me, and I hate that, to this day, it’s my failure. I know I can carry it. I still have a career 20 years later. It’s just part of my story. That’s okay, and I’ve carried other failures and successes.”

“People have opinions, and sometimes they’re louder than others,” she added. “You just have to keep moving.”

Regardless of how the movie was received back then, it’s clear to see that love for Berry, and her iconic character, has continued to this day.
