Jane’s Addiction have unveiled “Imminent Redemption,” the first new single from the band’s classic lineup in 34 years.
The studio version of the track comes two months after Jane’s Addiction debuted the song during a May 23rd concert in London. That show marked the return of guitarist Dave Navarro, who had been sitting out the band’s gigs for the past couple years due to a battle with long COVID.
“Imminent Redemption” features the classic lineup of Navarro, singer Perry Farrell, bassist Eric Avery, and drummer Stephen Perkins. The song kicks off with an Avery bass line, before Farrell jumps in with his instantly recognizable vocals.
The band stated in a press release, “It is different this time. To have everyone back together, releasing new music. It’s time. Welcome to the next chapter of Jane’s Addiction. ‘Imminent Redemption’ is only the beginning.”
While Jane’s Addiction have released new albums and songs in the years since 1990’s Ritual de lo Habitual , those tracks for the most part featured Chris Chaney on bass in place of Eric Avery, who had parted ways with the band a couple of times in the past few decades. Avery returned to Jane’s in 2022.
