In 1987, Josh Taylor exited Days of Our Lives as Chris Kositchek. He had played the role since 1977. Taylor left the show because of behind-the-scenes turmoil occurring on the other show he was then starring on, Valerie. His sitcom wife, Valerie Harper, was fired in a contract dispute, and Sandy Duncan was tapped to become the show's new leading lady. The show was rebranded as Valerie's Family: The Hogans, and Taylor's role was expanded. The actor would return to DAYS in 1997, but in a different role, Roman Brady, which he continues to play to this day.
