“Ninja” Squirrel Uses Tree Stump To Evade Dog With Impressive Skill

One squirrel found themself in a tricky situation with a neighborhood dog, and this critter’s clever way of avoiding the pooch has us all cracking up! Usually, it’s not difficult for one of these avid climbers to get away from earthbound animals like canines. However, this squirrel was out of luck when they got caught on a short tree stump with no branches to hide in. Or, at least, they would have been out of luck if they weren’t so sneaky!

Since the small animal couldn’t climb upwards, they decided to move around to the other side of the stump where the pooch couldn’t see them. Every time the dog moved, the squirrel moved, too. That’s how the pup got stuck running in circles around the stump, never quite catching the rodent! A social media user caught the most hilarious footage of his dog’s interaction with this smart squirrel.

“He’s been doing this for, like, the past five minutes,” said the dog’s owner in the video. “And he can’t figure out where the squirrel went to. But he can smell, and he knows it’s around somewhere.”

Commenters thought that the clip was too funny ! They were also pretty impressed with this squirrel’s street smarts when it comes to dealing with dogs.

“That squirrel must have been a ninja in its past life,” wrote one user.

Another added, “That squirrel is just messing with him!”

It turns out that not all dogs are skilled hunters…

A few fellow pet owners shared that their dogs also love to chase squirrels, and they have absolutely no clue what to do when they catch one.

“My doodle finally caught a squirrel,” wrote one user. “Had him in his mouth. And immediately stopped. Opened his mouth, and released him. He genuinely didn’t know what to do with it.”

“My Italian greyhound catches them then doesn’t know what to do with them,” said another.

It’s pretty funny to see tiny squirrels outwitting dogs with supposed hunting instincts. However, it’s probably better for everyone involved if you can keep your pooch from getting too close to these little guys in the first place!
