WWE Monday Night Mania Strikes Yet Again

This past Monday night on Raw two future stars of this business continued their impressive rookie years. Bron Breakker and Ilja Dragunov had yet another battle to remember. This time it didn't end so great for Dragunov.

Ilja proved that he can hang with the very best of them on Monday nights. He has been featured in several main events on Raw during his short tenure with the brand. His wrestling ability has never been in question, shining in every big match he is placed in all the way back to his first WWE exposure in NXT UK where he ended Gunther's reign as the longest-running NXT UK Champ of all time.

He started strong in this match by displaying his strength and intensity, even leveling Breakker with a few nice shots. Bron's strength was ultimately too much for Dragunov to withstand. When Breakker dropped Dragunov ribs-first onto the ring post the defenses of the mad dragon began to crumble. With the bullseye painted on the midsection of Dragunov, Breakker was sure to not miss his mark.

All hope was not lost for Dragunov who was able to pull off a stunning superplex, into the signature H-Bomb move. Due to the high-risk high-reward nature of the superplex Dragunov was not able to capitalize and secure a pinfall attempt on Breakker. Bron was able to roll out of the ring before Dragunov was able to lift him on his shoulders and deliver a slam which dropped Breakker spine first onto the ring apron.

Looking to put away Bron with another H-Bomb, Dragunov stood on the ring looking to hit Brakker who was lying on the floor. Before Dragunov was able to land his signature move Bron exploded up, obliterating the Mad Dragon with a spear. With Dragunov being unable to come to his feet, the referee had decided to end the match and award Breakker with a victory and another chance at Sami Zayn's Intercontinental Championship.

Shake's Take:

Bron Breakker and Ilja Dragunov will end up main-eventing WrestleMania's someday. Since his debut, Bron Breakker has done almost nothing except win matches. Capitalizing on every opportunity he gets on TV. Watching these two continue to battle on Raw over the past couple of months has been an absolute pleasure.

Before the match ended I recall thinking "We are watching a future WrestleMania match for free on a Monday night. The ending left a bit to be desired, but it was done that way to build Breakker even more. I believe Breakker may defeat Zayn at SummerSlam leading into a full-time feud between two future pillars of the company.
