Some have felt like the promotion was forgotten, but we have a big update on the future plans for Ring of Honor.

When the company revealed they were struggling and shutting down, wrestling fans hoped for a savior. Given how many current stars in both AEW and WWE used to call Ring of Honor home, seeing either big promotion take ownership of ROH was logical. And with WWE having a ton of content for their streaming service, and AEW trying to start their own, acquiring Ring of Honor made a ton of sense for Tony Khan.

Unfortunately, since acquiring the company, things have not gone swimmingly. While the company remains alive, it is not thriving as it once had. ROH champions appear on AEW programming, but a regular Ring of Honor show has yet to materialize. At the same time, so to has that slow-to-develop AEW media deal , which ROH should figure into.

That is set to change though. According to Fightful , the company is beginning to start a new effort. ROH is going to be running shows in Arlington, and it should represent a bit of a reboot. The intent is to record several weeks worth of television in one shot, much as WWE used to do with NXT when it wasn’t always live. This is a shift from how things used to be. Before, AEW would tape ROH before or after Dynamite or Collision. Giving ROH it’s own tapings, allowing it to be the focus of those shows, ought to help immensely.

Whether this works or not remains to be seen. But, having additional weekly content that is fresh and original will be vital to the upcoming AEW-Warner Brothers/Discovery TV deal. So, will Ring of Honor improve in the future?
